What mass of potassium chloride would be needed to form a saturated solution in 50g of water at 298K solubility of salt is 46g?

Hey!

The solution is as follows :

Solubility of potassium nitrate at 313K = 62/100 100 g of water contains potassium nitrate = 62 g 50 g of water contains potassium nitrate = 62/100 X 50 = 31g

Thus, 31 g potassium nitrate would be needed to produce a saturated solution of potassium nitrate in 50 g of water at 313 K.

Text Solution

Solution : (a) Mass of potassium chloride in 100 g of water in saturated solution = 46 g
Mass of potassium chloride in 50 g of water in saturated solution = `((46 g))/((100 g)) xx (50g) = 23 g`
(b) When the solution is cooled, the solubility of salt in water will decrease. This means that upon cooling, it will start separating from the solution in crystalline form.

A solution which contains the more dissolved amount of solute as compareto saturated solution. Thus 23 g of potassium chloride would be needed to form a saturated solution in 50g of water at 298K.

Why does KCl precipitate out of the solution?

In the winter the KCl and NaCl rich brine solution from underground is pumped out into holding ponds where the cold temperature of the air cools the warm brine and causes the KCl to precipitate out.

Substance Solubility in 100g water
KCl at 75°C 50g
NH4Cl at 65°C 60g
HCl at 10°C 78g
NaNO3at 70°C 135g

What is the solubility of KNO3 at 60 C?

Task 1: Producing a graph to represent solubility data

Potassium nitrate (KNO3) Sodium nitrate (NaNO3) Temp. °C g / 100 g water g / 100 g water
60 108 124
70 136 134
80 168 148

At what temperature do KCL and NaCl have the same molar solubility?

44.5 degrees Celsius

At what temperature do KCl and kno3 have the same solubility?

approximately 23℃

What is the solubility of sodium chloride in 20 C?

The solubility of sodium chloride in water is 36.0 g per 100 g water at 20°C. The temperature must be specified because solubility varies with temperature.

Is the mass of NaCl affected by its temperature?

Answers and Replies. In general, the temperature does not affect the mass of a closed system.

What solution has 36 grams in 100 mL solvent at 25 C?

sodium chloride

Is iodine soluble in NaOH?

Iodine is not very soluble in water, but produces a slightly yellow solution. No ions are produced when iodine dissolves in any of these solvents. When sodium hydroxide (NaOH) dissolves in water, it separates into positively – charged sodium ions (cations) and negatively – charged hydroxide ions (anions).

What does alkaline aqueous iodine test for?

When Iodine and sodium hydroxide are added to a compound that contains either a methyl ketone or a secondary alcohol with a methyl group in the alpha position, a pale yellow precipitate of iodoform or triiodomethane is formed. It can be used to identify aldehydes or ketones.

What happens when ethyl alcohol is treated with iodine in presence of alkali?

Ethanol forms acetaldehyde on oxidation, so it gives the iodoform test. The formation of a pale yellow precipitate when iodine in sodium hydroxide reacts with alcohol that can be oxidized to acetaldehyde is the iodoform reaction. The acetaldehyde is then treated with I2 and NaOH it gives sodium formate and iodoform.

What happens when ethyl alcohol is oxidised?

When ethyl alcohol is oxidised to give acetic acid.

When ethyl alcohol and Ki reacted in presence of na2co3 yellow crystals of are formed?

This reaction is called Iodoform reaction, ethyl alcohol first convert into ethanol which upon further oxidation gives yellow crystals of CHI3 .

Does alcohol react with na2co3?

no, sodium carbonate (and sodium hydrogen carbonate) is used as a test for acids.

What happens when ethyl alcohol is heated with bleaching powder?

The ethyl alcohol reacts with the chlorine of the bleaching powder to form acetaldehyde.

What happens when ethyl alcohol reacts with red phosphorus and bromine?

With Red phosphorus and bromine, ethanol gives ethyl bromide. Acidified potassium dichromate ethyl alcohol gives acetaldehyde and acetic acid.

How do you convert ethyl alcohol into chloroform?

Question: How can chloroform be obtained from ethanol? Answer: Chloroform. is prepared in the laboratory by heating a mixture of Bleaching powder with ethanol or acetone. In this reaction, bleaching powder acts as oxidising chlorinating and hydrolyzing agent.

What is the name of CaOCl2?

Calcium hypochlorite

What is CaOCl2?

Calcium Hypochlorite is an inorganic chemical compound with chemical formula CaOCl2. They are also called calcium oxychloride and the common name of CaOCl2 is bleching or chlorine powder.
