For example, if you have personal and professional Facebook accounts, you can quickly switch between them with one click. Similarly, if you share your computer with other family members, you can use the account switch feature. A great and fast way to sign out and sign in from multiple Facebook or Messenger accounts. When you switch accounts, you’ll only get notifications for the account you’re signed into.

Availability of Switch Account Feature

Account switcher feature is only available in facebook.com desktop version. This feature is not available in Facebook mobile apps. Rather, you find it in the mobile apps of Facebook Messenger, not in the desktop version of Messenger.

How Many Accounts Can Be Added

You can add up to 10 Facebook accounts to the Facebook website. In the case of Messenger mobile apps, you can store information for up to 5 accounts.

How to Change Facebook Accounts on PC

Here are the steps for both New and Classic Facebook.

How to Change Account on Old Facebook

Open the Facebook website. Click on the account switcher icon at the top. If you haven’t added another Facebook account, click Add account. Enter your login information. When you need to switch accounts later, tap the account listed below the account switcher icon.

How to Change Account on New Facebook

Click the small down arrow in the upper right corner of the page to switch accounts on the new Facebook website. Select Change Account from the menu. Next, select the account you want to log into.

How to Change Facebook Messenger Accounts on Android and iOS

Tap your profile picture icon to switch accounts in Messenger mobile apps. You will be redirected to Messenger settings. Scroll down and tap Switch Account.

Then tap the account to switch. You can also add a new Messenger account from this screen.

Bonus Fix: Facebook Messenger Keeps Asking for Account Switching

Several users reported that Messenger prompts them to switch accounts whenever they try to share anything from Facebook to Messenger. If you’re running into the problem too, here are some quick fixes. Restart your phone before trying these. Sometimes, doing this also fixes the problem.

Facebook Messenger comes with chat bubbles that allow you to quickly reply to your messages from any screen. Disabling them seems to fix the sudden switch account screen. To disable them, open the Messenger app. Tap the icon of your profile picture. Disable the toggle next to Chat Threads.

Remove All Messenger Accounts

Next, you must remove all added Messenger accounts. For that, go to Messenger Settings and then Switch Account. Here, remove all accounts by swiping left on them and then hitting the delete icon.

Sign Out from Facebook

If your Messenger account is linked to Facebook, you must log out of all sessions. To do this, open the Facebook app. Tap the three-bar icon at the top. Go to Settings > Security & Login. Below where you’re signed in, tap on See all. Tap on Sign out of all sessions. This allows you to log out of your Facebook and Messenger accounts on all your devices. You will need to re-enter your login information. Hopefully, this should fix the issue.
