Who is stephen curry brother

To begin his career, Seth Curry was known simply as Steph Curry's younger brother. Signed by the Golden State Warriors as an un-drafted free agent in 2013, Seth played six preseason games before being waived ahead of the regular season. Seth finally made a name for himself with the Sacramento Kings in 2016, shooting 45% from deep in 44 games. 

Establishing himself as a valuable NBA player, rather than just Steph's brother, it took years of hard work for Seth to overcome that label. Having now done so successfully, he is comfortable remaining an opponent rather than a teammate.

"You never know what the future holds. I wouldn’t be against it, but it’s definitely not my preferred choice to be on the same team as him — definitely right now," Seth told NBC Sports Bay Area’s Monte Poole when asked about playing with Steph. "Being a younger brother gave me another leg up and an edge to get to where I am today. I always had somebody that I was chasing to be as good as, or better than, in literally everything, not only just basketball."

Amongst all qualifying three-point shooters, Seth Curry ranks 3rd in NBA history at just under 44% from downtown. No longer seen as just Steph's brother, Seth is now an integral part of the Brooklyn Nets, having been dealt from the Philadelphia 76ers in the James Harden trade.

While Seth Curry acknowledges the possibility of teaming up with his brother in the future, the three-point sniper does not currently prefer that outcome.

Warriors players weren’t the only ones flexing after the team captured its fourth NBA championship in eight years on Thursday night. Seth Curry, the brother of NBA Finals MVP Stephen Curry, made sure to set the record straight after the big win.

“Don’t talk about Steph again unless it’s in a convo with the time great PLAYERS!! And i mean a hand full of people to ever touch a basketball,” the younger Curry tweeted as his brother added to his Hall of Fame résumé.

While Stephen didn’t have much to prove to any reasonable NBA fan, the NBA Finals MVP award was one of the few things missing from his trophy case. Andre Iguodala took home MVP honors for the first of the Warriors’ four titles, while Kevin Durant won the award after the second and third championships.

Curry left no doubt against the Celtics, averaging 31.2 points in the six game series. He topped 30 points four times against Boston, including a 43-point outburst in Game 4. In Game 6, he went for 34 points on 12-of-21 shooting, making 6-of-11 three pointers, and added seven rebounds and seven assists. He was a unanimous selection as Finals MVP.

With the win, the Warriors star inserts himself in any conversation about the NBA’s pantheon of all-time greats.

The son of 16-year NBA veteran Dell Curry, Stephen Curry's reputation as a second-generation basketball star has long preceded him, even prior to his days in the NBA. Stephen Curry's ascension into NBA superstardom has made for a bigger spotlight that includes his wife and children as well as his siblings, their partners and children.

What does Curry's family tree look like? Here's a breakdown of just why the Currys can be considered NBA royalty.

Stephen Curry's dad: Dell Curry

3-point shooting must be genetic. While Stephen Curry is now recognized as the greatest shooter in NBA history, his father, Dell, built a reputation as a 3-point marksman during his 16-year NBA career.

After being selected by the Jazz with the 15th overall pick in the 1986 NBA Draft, Dell Curry spent one season with the Cavaliers, 10 seasons with the Hornets, a season with the Bucks and three with the Raptors.

Dell Curry enjoyed a fruitful NBA career in which he averaged 11.7 points on 40.2 percent 3-point shooting over 1,083 career games. The elder Curry was named Sixth Man of the Year in the 1993-94 NBA season after averaging a career-high 16.3 points while appearing in all 82 games for the Hornets.

20 years after retiring from the NBA, Dell Curry is now the television analyst for the Hornets, but it's no surprise to see him on hand at either of his son's games, like when he was courtside at Madison Square Garden to watch Stephen become the league's all-time 3-point leader.

Stephen Curry's mom: Sonya Curry

Stephen Curry's mom didn't play basketball, but she was an all-conference performer during her time as a member of Virginia Tech's volleyball team.

It was at Virginia Tech that Sonya and Dell met. The two married in 1988.

Sonya Curry is also a mainstay at Warriors games, including Game 6 of the Western Conference Semifinals, from which she shared video of the celebration from her seats at San Francisco's Chase Center.

In addition to being a former college athlete and Curry's mom, Sonya Curry is an educator and the founder of the Christian Montessori School of Lake Norman in North Carolina. In May, she released her memoir, "Fierce Love: A Memoir of Family, Faith and Purpose."

Sonya and Dell announced their divorce in 2021. Together, they have two children in addition to Stephen, his brother, Seth and sister, Sydel.

Stephen Curry's wife: Ayesha Curry

Stephen Curry and Ayesha were married in the summer of 2011, but the two first met when they were teenagers.

The two began dating during Stephen Curry's college years at Davidson College, where he attended school from 2006 to 2009.

A former actress, Ayesha Curry played a number of minor roles, including parts in singular episodes of Disney's "Hannah Montana" and "Good Luck Charlie."

An entrepreneur, Ayesha Curry has also used her culinary skills to host shows such as "Cooking with the Currys," "Ayesha's Homemade" and "The Great American Baking Show," which she hosted for one season.

Together, Ayesha and Stephen Curry host the couples' game show "About Last Night" on HBO Max.

They have three children: daughters Riley (born 2012) and Ryan (born 2015) and son Canon (born 2018).

As Stephen Curry came onto the scene as the NBA's MVP in the 2014-15 season, his daughter, Riley, burst onto the scene as the MVP of the podium during the 2015 NBA Playoffs.

At just two years old, Riley stole the hearts of basketball fans, stealing the show at her dad's press conferences with a number of performances, including her own rendition of "Blessings" by Big Sean and Drake.

A star in her own right, Riley Curry is now nine years old and while she is no longer appearing at the podium, she is holding her own as the big sister of younger siblings Ryan and Canon.

Canon, who is three years old, presented his dad with an All-Star ring at the Chase Center in February.

Stephen Curry's brother: Seth Curry

What was that about 3-point shooting being genetic?

The younger brother of Stephen, Seth Curry took quite a different path to the NBA. After going undrafted in 2013 and struggling to find the right fit in the league, Seth Curry is now an eight-year veteran in the NBA.

This past season, Seth Curry averaged 15.0 points over 64 games with the 76ers (45) and Nets (19). For his career, Seth Curry shoots 43.9 percent from 3-point range, a better career mark than that of both Dell and Stephen.

Seth Curry is married to Callie Rivers, the sister of Nuggets guard Austin Rivers and the daughter of 76ers head coach Doc Rivers, adding to the Curry family ties around the NBA.

Seth and Callie Curry have two daughters, Cash and Carter.

Stephen Curry's sister: Sydel Curry-Lee

The youngest of the Curry family is Stephen Curry's sister, Sydel Curry-Lee.

Like her mother, Sydel was a standout volleyball player, spending three seasons as a setter at Elon College in Elon, N.C.

Stephen Curry's brother-in-law: Damion Lee

Sydel Curry-Lee is doubly invested in the success of the Warriors. In addition to her older brother playing for the team, she is married to reserve guard Damion Lee, who is in his fourth season with the franchise.

Over 63 games with the Warriors during the 2021-22 season, Lee averaged 7.4 points and 3.2 rebounds per game. He appeared in 12 of the Warriors' 16 games ahead of the 2022 NBA Finals.

Together, they have a son, Daxon Wardell-Xavier Lee.
