LightyearStart your month with an epic animated space adventure movie. Lightyear is a spin-off of the Toy-Story series and the franchise’s fifth movie. The series’ main character, Buzz Lightyear, is voiced by Chris Evans, while Taika Waititi is taking on the role of Mo Morrison.
Space Ranger Buzz Lightyear goes on a new intergalactic mission alongside his companions, Izzy, Mo, Sox, and Darby. But, their mission becomes more challenging when Zurg and his army of robots chase Buzz to steal the fuel source. Release date: August 3rd, 2022 2. PreyIt’s pretty hard to put this movie into a specific genre. Prey is packed with action, horror, adventure, drama, and everything else fans expect from a near-perfect movie. For the unacquainted, Prey is a movie from the Predator franchise and a prequel to the first four movies of the series. The movie’s story takes us to the nation of Comanche. Naru, a skilled warrior of her tribe, is terrified when she notices that her prey is a highly evolved alien species with technological advancement. Now, her only mission is to protect her tribe from these deadly aliens. Release Date: August 5th, 2022 Marvel and DC are known for their massive superhero projects. However, Secret Headquarters isn’t coming from any of these comic book giants. So, it would be fascinating to see if Henry Joost and Ariel Schulman – the film’s directors- can match the level of other superhero movies in their upcoming project. One day, Charlie (played by Walker Scubell) discovers that beneath his house is the headquarter of the world’s most powerful superhero. Soon after this discovery, the world is attacked by some villains. Now, they have no choice but to team up with the superhero and save the world. Release date: August 5th, 2022 4. Bullet TrainBrad Pitt is known for his incredible action-thriller movies – Fight Club, Snatch, and Mr. & Mrs. Smith are some of the best examples. That’s why fans have been eagerly awaiting the release of Bullet Train. Alongside Pitt, Sandra Bullock and Joey King are part of the movie’s cast. Well-known assassin Ladybug (played by Brad Pitt) wants to end his life, but Maria Beetle (Sandra Bullock) saves him and assigns him with the task of collecting a briefcase from a Bullet Train heading towards Kyoto. But, there are other assassins on the train with a similar objective. Release date: August 5th, 2022 5. Rise Of The Teenage Mutant Ninja TurtlesNext, we have the legendary Ninja Turtles coming with lots of action and new adventures with ‘Rise of the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles.’ A television show of the same name aired from July 2018 to August 2020, and now we are getting a movie adaptation of the series.
Leo and his brothers, Raph, Donnie, and Mikey, try to save the world when an alien species mysteriously arrives on Earth from the future. Release date: August 5th, 2022 6. CarterSouth Korean titles never fail to impress us with their thrilling storyline and, of course, jaw-dropping action sequences. Well, it’s safe to say that Carter isn’t going to be any different. The film comes from the mind of Jung Byung-Gil – known for his previous projects like The Villainess and Action Boys – so there’s no way the upcoming movie will be mediocre. Carter (Joo Won) wakes up in a messed-up world and discovers that a deadly virus has affected the US and North Korea. He has no memories of his past. On top of that, there’s a bomb in his mouth, and a mysterious voice in his ears is constantly giving orders. Now, Carter continuously tries to escape his death while figuring out his true identity. Release date: August 5th, 2022 7. BeastBeast is another action-thriller film that is coming out this month. The film is based on a story by Jaime Primak Sullivan, while Baltasar Kormakur is in the director’s seat for this one. Can you imagine yourself in a wildlife reserve where your fun trip turns into the biggest nightmare when a ferocious lion starts hunting you? Well, Dr. Nate Samuels (played by Idris Elba) finds himself in a similar situation when he visits South Africa with his daughters. Release date: August 19th, 2022 8. The InvitationThe Invitation was previously titled ‘The Bride,’ but the creators changed the film’s title. The writer of the movie, Blair Butler, drew inspiration from the 1897 novel ‘Dracula’ to give us a chilling horror story.
The film features the story of Evie, played by the Game of Thrones star Nathalie Emmanuel. After her mother’s death, Evie takes a DNA test and finds out she has a cousin. Evie’s newly found family invites her to a wedding, where she learns the family’s dark secrets and the true intentions of their hospitality. Release date: August 26th, 2022 9. SamaritanHere’s another superhero movie coming out in August that isn’t from Marvel or DC. The story of Samaritan was published in Mythos Comic graphic novels before getting a live-action adaptation starring Sylvester Stallone. The trailer of Samaritan promises unmatched entertainment and action. Samaritan was a famous superhero who retired after fighting a fierce battle twenty-five years ago. But, a young boy soon realizes that the legend still lives among them, and he starts to bond with the superhero. Release date: August 26th, 2022 10. Three Thousand Years of LongingThree Thousand Years of Longing is based on the short rom-com story by A. S. Byatt, The Djinn in the Nightingale’s Eye. The movie got a world premiere at the 2022 Cannes Film Festival and received a standing ovation for six minutes, clearly indicating the film’s brilliance. A scholar encounters a Djinn (played by Idris Elba) on a trip to Istanbul, who grants her three wishes in exchange for his freedom. However, their conversation leads to unexpected consequences. Release date: August 31st, 2022
