What is meant by concentration of a solution a solution contains 50g common salt in 350g of water calculate the concentration of the solution?

Text Solution

Solution : Mass of solute(salt)=50 g , Mass of solvent (water)=200 g
mass of solution=Mass of solute +Mass of solvent= 50g+200g=250 g
Mass percentage of a solution=`("mass of solution")/("mass of solution")times100 =50/250 = times 100 =20%`

Concentration of solution refers to the amount of solute dissolved per litre of solution. Mass of solute= 50g

              Mass of solvent= 350g

Mass of solution = mass of solute + mass of solvent = 50+350=400

So, concentration% = Mass of solute/ mass of solution x 100. So, 50 / 400*100 = 12.5g
