Why are Yeti coolers so expensive Reddit

The quality looks great, but is that it? Do they have a special proprietary technology?

Seriously, I've always been someone that has defended Yeti because I do think their cups and coolers are simply the best. But now if someone is looking for a cup or cooler, I can't honestly recommend Yeti?? I would almost feel bad knowing what the prices are. They've gone from a company that was for outdoorsman looking for the best way to keep items cold, to a company that's just selling overpriced stuff because they think they can.

I want to be completely sold out on my Yeti products but I'm kinda not. One of my most used items are their tumblers. They're good but for the price and performance they should be outstanding. I've bhad better performing tumblers and migrated to other coolers from other brands that far out perform them in terms of insulation. But I have to say as far as endurance, my Yeti products have out lasted them all. My other products last a long while but do wear out eventually. So outstanding, more affordable, and less lifespan? Or expensive, just okay but enduring? I'm not sure.

I’ve been working at an outdoor store and I always see Yeti items that I figure to be pretty hardy, but extremely expensive. What do you think of them?

My partner and I have a camper van & camp in it in the summer for over a month. Last summer we didn’t have the greatest cooler for our food. It wouldn’t hold ice, and things sometimes got warm even though we’d plug it in. Is a Yeti worth it?

Don't waste money on a yeti cooler from camping
Yeti’s …worth the cost ? My Coleman cooler isn’t the best , all my food is wet by the third day. I’m curious if a Yeti is worth the $$ because this babe is on a budget. 🤷🏽‍♀️ from camping

There are coolers with the same insulation technology going for 1/5 the price. If you spend $500 on a beach cooler, please take a long walk off the nearest peerpier to your bougie resort.

My husband and I are currently building out a camper van, and are disagreeing on the fridge situation. He wants to buy a 12v trucker type fridge to plug into the van, I want to invest in a Yeti cooler.

I do understand, Yetis are expensive, especially as it's 'just a cooler'. Does anyone have one? Does it work as well as advertised? Is it worth the price tag, or will I have some buyers regret?

Thanks!

EDIT: sounds like if we go the cooler route, RTIC is the way to do it! Potentially even two coolers - one for beer, one for food. Thank you all!
