The Greens & Superfoods powder is the company’s best seller and has gone viral on TikTok, according to Llewellyn. Bloom Nutrition also sells collagen, pre-workout, protein and vitamin supplements. Bloom products are available nationwide online and at Target stores.

The Bloom Greens & Superfoods powder is a fine green powder that is meant to supplement, or add to, your existing intake of greens and “superfoods” (foods that are naturally packed with ​​crucial nutrients) like berries or broccoli.

Packaged in a plastic tub with a mostly green-colored label, the product includes one plastic scoop inside for proper measurement of each serving. One scoop of the Original flavor is 5.05 grams, which equals one serving. Bloom suggests one to two servings per day. It’s recommended to blend one scoop of the greens powder with 8 to 12 fluid ounces of water or your favorite drink with a high-powered mixer.

Bloom’s Greens & Superfoods powder is plant-based and free of soy, gluten, dairy and GMO products, according to its label.

On the whole, one serving (or scoop) of Bloom Greens & Superfoods powder contains 15 calories, 3 grams of carbs, 2 grams of dietary fiber, 0.6 milligrams of iron and 5 milligrams of sodium. There are also 57 milligrams of stevia leaf extract to give the product a sweeter taste.

The label also breaks down its dozens of ingredients into specific blends, including fiber, green superfood, pre and probiotic, fruit and vegetable, antioxidant beauty, digestive enzyme and adaptogenic blends. The powder comes in five flavors, including berry, coconut, citrus, original and mango.

On its front label, Bloom Greens & Superfoods claims to aid in digestion, bloating and immunity, although acknowledges on the back label that these claims have not been evaluated by the FDA.

The product is manufactured in a cGMP (Certified Good Manufacturing Practices) facility, which must operate by standards set by the FDA. The facility also processes nuts and dairy products, according to Bloom’s FAQ page.

Jaclyn London, a registered dietitian and certified dietician-nutritionist in New York, hopes customers will be wary before diving into Bloom Nutrition products. “The biggest problem from a nutrition standpoint is that because it’s presumably produce [fruits and vegetables] in powdered form, you’re automatically losing out on the fiber, antioxidants, water and key mineral benefits that you would otherwise be getting if you were to eat a whole food in any form,” she says.

London also questions where Bloom sources its ingredients, especially since Bloom doesn’t provide third-party testing results on any of its ingredients. Without such testing, “they could be contaminated [with external ingredients like cadmium or lead] without us having any idea,” she says, which could be harmful on their own or in conjunction with medications or foods a person already ingests.

While the amount of each particular ingredient may not be enough to provide any therapeutic (e.g truly healing) effects, the combination of ingredients “may provide some antioxidants, adaptogens, enzymes, and prebiotic fiber,” explains Nichole Dandrea-Russert, M.S., a registered dietitian nutritionist and author of The Fiber Effect.

Bloom Nutrition presents itself as an upbeat and trendy supplement brand, which makes it easy to buy into its products and promises. I was especially hopeful about its decreased bloating and aided digestion benefits.

I took the Greens & Superfoods powder in the Original flavor daily for one week, trying it both with water and in a smoothie (with frozen berries, carrot juice and a protein powder). The label instructs using a high-powered mixer to whisk the powder in with liquid, which works, but shaking with a blender ball works just as well when I tried it with water.

The Original powder tastes a lot sweeter than other greens powders I’ve tried; one scoop in water is actually too sweet for my taste. One scoop in a smoothie also noticeably sweetened the smoothie compared to the same ingredients blending without the Greens & Superfoods powder.

Contrary to Bloom’s claim that its Greens & Superfoods powder helps with bloating, I thought drinking one serving with water actually caused a bit of bloating. This side effect was enough to prevent me from continuing to use the product past one week. I am also wary of consuming more of a supplement that has not been chemically tested by a third party to indicate the quality of its ingredients, so I won’t finish the tub past this trial.
