How to switch back to old Instagram layout 2022

At the time of an update in an application, they add a number of functions or correct errors of the application, but in turn increase the weight of the application itself, sometimes being too heavy, or we just missed the way the app looked or developed in an older version.

Here we can also find Instagram, an application that over the years has changed from its design to the way it works, and many nostalgic prefer old versions because they are usually more minimalist or more comfortable than the current ones.

Go back to a previous version of Instagram

The easiest way to return to an old state of Instagram is reduced to simple steps, which anyone could do, however, something important must be taken into account, and that is that you cannot go back to an extremely old version, that is, of the first versions or of a year or more of difference, because Android detects that the application is not according to the version of the device; Instagram also disables the use of very old versions, giving them a lifetime, where simply when they meet a certain date they expire.

  1. Uninstall the app, once uninstalled from the device you will be able to install a previous version of the application, in this way there is no registration of the application, make sure to efficiently erase the instagram folder in case there are cache traces.
  2. You cannot install the application from the Play Store, Because it only installs updated versions of the applications and does not give the option to update a previous version, so proceed to look for an old version on the internet that does not exceed a year so that it can work.
  3. You will have to install the application manually Through the Android installer, this is easy, you just have to open the downloaded file, in this case if a window appears asking you to grant permissions to install an unknown APK on the device, you grant it.
  4. This will install the application quickly and it will be an old version, be sure to open it and look up the version number to check this.

Now, Play Store will notify you about updating the application, you deactivate this in the Play Store settings, and make sure to keep update option disabled automatically, because in this way the application will be updated in its most recent version, and all the installation work of the application will be in vain, also make sure that you do not have third-party applications that activate the update, because within the application instagram to use new functions will ask you to update, make sure you don’t.

Can I install old versions of other applications?

Using the same method and form used to install the old version of instagram, you can install old versions of other applications or applications that are not available in the region, that is, this applies to Twitter, Facebook or WhatsApp.

Keep in mind that returning to old versions limits us in terms of functions and capabilities that are added in current versions, it can be in the case of instagram some filters or special options that were added in recent versions, or some commands or aesthetic visualizations that change.

Likewise, it can happen if old versions of Twitter or WhatsApp are installed, in the case of free messaging, it can deprive us of options such as performance or interface improvements, how states, image resolution and even including fewer emojis and current commands to our application, in this case WhatsApp or Telegram as well as the aforementioned application adding or improving functions or emojis to the application.

Instagram will be quite limited in interface improvement such as optimization and speed, thus being slower or with less visual and development capabilities, so it must be borne in mind that returning to an old or past version does not always guarantee an improvement for the device, but it could spoil the development of the application, because these are adapting to new android versions and optimizing the way they work.

For this very reason it is not recommended to go back to an old version if you want to optimize the application unlike trying to free up space on the mobile device.

ICYMI, Instagram recently rolled out in-feed tests that enlarge pictures and videos to become nearly the full size of your screen. The tests have been met with mixed reviews, and many users have been left wondering if they can change back their Instagram feed to make Instagram photos and videos smaller again. If you’re looking to revert your IG feed back to normal, here's what you need to know about the photo and video feed test.

If you’re lucky enough not to be in the test (I said what I said), let me catch you up to speed. On May 3, Head of Instagram Adam Mosseri posted a Reel to his personal IG account to announce the first feed test that expanded the size of photos and videos to fill up more of your screen. The test ran throughout May 2022, and then on June 16, the company rolled out new versions of the feed test to select users. Both tests ditch the standard 1:1 and 4:5 ratios for a new 9:16 ratio, and other than the fact that the new test does not feature white spaces above and below in-feed content, there aren’t many changes between the two tests.

According to a Meta spokesperson, the May 2022 photo and video test is no longer live, so if your feed content suddenly looks more like a vertical rectangle, you know you’re in the new test — you might also notice your Shop and Reels tabs have been replaced by shortcuts to make a post and send a DM

If you’re in the test group and would rather opt out while Instagram works on it, you might be out of luck, at least for a while. According to a Meta spokesperson, Instagram users in the original feed test were unable to revert their feeds to the original layout, and it doesn’t appear there is any way out of the new test (or future tests).

Mosseri explained in early May that the inspiration for the test came from IG’s desire to create a more immersive viewing experience, but according to the comments section of the May 3 Reel, it looks like some people were satisfied with their content just the way it was.

User @BlairImani weighed in with her opinion on Mosseri’s Reel, writing, “I don’t love it. It feels a bit crowded and too hard to comment / meaningfully engage.” Meanwhile, @Hammond_oh pointed out that the new layout might need some updating, because it “doesn’t show the date the post was published.” All valid points.

It’s unclear how long the new test of the larger photos and videos in feed will last, and Instagram plans to roll out even more iterations of the larger in-feed content test in the upcoming months, according to the spokesperson. So even if this test ends in a few weeks, you could find yourself back in another test soon after.

If you’re really not feeling the feed change, you can try spending more time in Instagram Stories, where IG recently introduced a new feature called Private Story Likes. You can keep tapping through Stories and doling out hearts while you wait for new updates about the feed test.

Instagram is always adding new and exciting features to keep its users entertained – but they don’t always go down well!

Changes to messaging, Reels, algorithms, feeds and settings occur all the time, but the latest update concerns the layout.

Instagram has changed the way that the screen is laid out in its latest 2022 update, including Stories, sizes and what is shown on your feed.

However, hundreds of users have been taking to Twitter this week to complain about it…

Instagram changes layout for 2022

In its latest update, Instagram has completely changed the layout of the home screen – and users hate it!

There are a variety of different changes that impact post sizes, Stories and the types of posts you see on your feed.

The most noticeable change is that posts are now bigger and take up more of the screen, laid out in a 9:16 ratio.

That means the caption and likes are now placed on top of the photo, which is very different.

As well as that, Instagram’s algorithm now shows more suggested posts on your feed from people you don’t follow.

So, as you’re scrolling through Instagram, you’ll see not only posts from users you follow but also random ones from the Explore page.

The final change comes to Stories. Users can post up to 100 Stories and all of them are usually shown to followers who have to tap through every one.

However, in the new update, excessive Stories are not shown and will have to click a “Show All” to see the rest.

Users hate the ‘ugly’ new layout

Users have been taking to Twitter to discuss how much they hate the new layout.

People think it’s really ugly.

No one wants to see recommended posts on their personal feed.

Adam Mosseri announces feed changes

Instagram CEO Adam Mosseri took to Twitter last week to announce the new feed changes.

“We’re moving Instagram to a place where video is a bigger part of the home experience, where content is more immersive – it takes up more of the screen,” he said.

The CEO went on to say that a larger part of the feed will now be “recommendations” and “things we think you might love but you might not have heard of yet”.

“We’re trying to figure out how to advance Instagram forward in a world where more and more people are going to be mobile first,” he added.
